Trichopetalum plumosum does not present problems for germination; stadard "Desert Treatment" works very well (+10ºC +18ºC), with the onset of germination after about 30 days.
In Abiotic factors effects influencing the germination of six herbaceous species of Chilean arid zone Trichopetalum plumosum is reported to germinate best under the following conditions: stable +10ºC (70%). Exposure to continuous light increases somewhat the germiantion rate, but not by much. Prolonged soaking is required (for no presoaking, the germination rate was 10%, two days:30%, 4 days: 50%).
