INTRODUCTION This is truly a beautiful high mountain shrub, flowering with whitish, pink, or red flowers which cover the shrub completely in the spring and attract swarms of insects which come for its sweet nectar. It can be easily grown as a bonsai-type tree because that is how it presents itself in its natural environment.

HABITAT
This shrub is at home at medium and higher elevations, and frequently it forms the upper limit of timber line in the mountains. It prefers some protection against the sun and places with some humidity (close to the brooks), but it can perfectly grow under the direct sun and with no water during the high-mountain summer period.
